Do you beat yourself up when you overeat or make a
mistake?

I always did because I thought being hard on myself would keep me from doing it again.

It never prevented it from happening again, it just made me feel bad about myself and kept me stuck in the vicious cycle of emotional eating.

Then I learned a different way, a way to be kind to
myself and move on.

Here are some of my favorite things to say when I’ve
messed up:

  • “Well that just happened.”
  • “And that’s ok.”
  • “I’m just going to do the next right thing.”
  • “So what?”

Doesn’t that sound better than the things you have
been saying to yourself?

It is possible to make changes without beating yourself up, compassion can create change.

We are humans, we sometimes make mistakes and that’s
ok.

Try it for yourself and let me know if it feels
better for you too.
